another afternoon in Seoul....

If you remember back to early winter I happen to be on a bus late night and saw the Namdaemun Gate go up in flames. A tragedy for Korea, since it was the no. 1 historical piece in the country. Yesterday we were at the Namdaemun Market and I notice that it's closed off with a banner and in construction to be rebuilt. I think it may take some time before we see the new model.

And yes folks.....I can't seem to get enough of the Russian food. Back again. It's tasty, inexpensive, and a break from the Kimchi. I always forget to take pictures of the food, so here are a few.....

Lamb skewers above.....

One of the new found favorites....ground lamb wrapped in cabbage and red pepper.....

Dad.....they have the tomato and onion salad.....but I have to say, it's not as good as YOURS!!

And of course.....some Russian beer, for me way better than the Korean beer (Cass, Hite, OB)

traditional music down by the stream in downtown Seoul....Had a little Middle Eastern flare to it from the lady with the horn....

lots of drummin'

The ribbon on the hat is cool, twirled around while the guy is playing and dancin'

Night out in Seoul.....

went to Seoul on Saturday evening for dinner, then a movie at the cinema in Insadong and then a few beers, which turned out to be a long night.....

dinner was good, Kimchi jiggae with many side dishes, the movie was interesting, a Japanese prisoner/terrorist film, and the bar was fun.

we decided to go back to the Western bar that a few of us have been to....

This time, the upstairs delivered a nice fire show.....what was going to be a beer, turned into a few.....

a free round of tequila shots, we didn't ask for them, but felt obligated to take them....ugh!

Notice the Guinness T-shirts and the Heineken hats, compliments of the bartender.

Here's a co-worker of mine...Kevin....waz up?

Erin and Gomi....hmmm.....did we really stay out all night.....breakfast anyone?

Ahh.....here comes the sun.....

early morning, it's going to be a beautiful day!

later that day, after some sleep and relaxation, I had to go out for a MTB ride. This is near sunset over looking Bundang....I had a nice mellow ride and finished with some meditation at the Buddha temple at the bottom of one of our trails.

2008 Lotus Lantern Festival in Seoul....

A few friends and I went up to Seoul to check out the Lotus Lantern Festival. There was a nice cultural parade. We headed up Saturday afternoon by bus, enjoyed the parade, some traditional Korean food, and some night entertainment. Ended up staying later, after the buses and subway shut down, so a taxi took us home to Bundang.
